Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 August 2026 · Version 2026-08-v1
Home Advantage HQ helps a household coordinate driving, schedules, and daily logistics. Doing that means holding information about a family, including its children. This policy explains what we hold, why, who can see it, and how to get it removed.
The short version. We collect what the app needs to answer "who's driving?" and nothing beyond it. We don't sell data, we don't show advertising, and we don't use your family's information or your calendar to train AI models. Nothing about a child is created or enabled until a verified parent consents, and a parent can withdraw that consent and have the child's data deleted.
1. Who we are
Home Advantage HQ ("Home Advantage HQ", "we", "us") operates the family logistics application at homeadvantagehq.com and its associated mobile applications.
We are the data controller for the information described in this policy. Our contact details are in section 13.
2. What we collect
Information a parent gives us
- Account details for adults — name, email address, and either a password or a sign-in provider such as Google or Apple.
- Household setup — your home address or general area, the venues your family drives to, each adult's driving availability, and who normally drives whom. This is what makes the conflict engine accurate for your household rather than a generic one.
- Child profiles created by a parent — a first name or nickname, an age group, sport and position, arrival times, whether the child takes the bus, and any details the parent chooses to add such as school, dietary notes, or medical information.
- Content you enter — events, trips, chores, meals, budget entries, goals, notes, and documents you upload.
- Payment information, when a subscription applies. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
Information from connected services
- Google Calendar, when a parent connects it. See section 3.
- Calendar feed URLs from club, league, and school platforms that a parent adds. These often contain a private access token, which we store in a restricted table and never display or log in full.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and usage data — device and browser type, IP address, and records of actions taken in the app, used to operate the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults.
- Location, only where a parent has switched it on for a specific person. See section 5.
3. Google Calendar and Google account data
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If a parent chooses to connect it, we request read-only access to that person's calendars.
The scopes we request
calendar.readonly— to read the events that drive conflict detection: what is happening, when, where, and for how long.calendar.calendarlist.readonly— to show you which of your calendars exist, so you can choose which ones the app should read.
Both are read-only. Home Advantage HQ does not request, and cannot obtain, permission to modify or delete anything in your Google Calendar through these scopes.
What we do with it
Calendar events are read so the conflict engine can compute arrival times, detect genuine scheduling collisions, and produce driving assignments and the daily brief. Events are stored in your family's own isolated area of our database so the app can work quickly and offline, and are refreshed when your calendar changes.
Limited Use. Home Advantage HQ's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we do not sell Google user data, we do not use it for advertising, we do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide or improve the features you are using or as required by law, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your explicit permission, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and anonymised. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalised AI or machine learning models.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from within the app, which revokes our access token and removes the events we imported from that connection. You can also revoke access directly from your Google account permissions page.
4. Children's information
Home Advantage HQ is designed for parents. Adults hold the accounts; children do not sign up, and the app is not directed to children as an independent audience. We knowingly hold information about a child only where a parent has created that child's profile and recorded consent.
Children never give us information directly
There is no child sign-up, and we do not ask a child for an email address, a phone number, or any contact detail. A parent creates the profile. If the parent wants the child to use the app on their own device, the app issues a single-use device key that the parent gives to the child, and the child sets a four-digit PIN that unlocks their profile on that already-authorised device. The PIN is not tied to a name, an email, or any other identifier.
The consent gate
A child's profile does nothing until consent is recorded. In order:
- A parent creates the profile. At this point it is inert — no access, no device key, no data collection, no location.
- The parent grants consent. We record who granted it, for which child, when, and under which version of this policy.
- The parent accepts the terms for that child.
- Only then can child access be set up.
This sequence is enforced on our servers, not merely in the interface. An endpoint that would issue a device key or enable a capability refuses to act without a valid consent record.
Withdrawing consent
A parent can withdraw consent for a child at any time from within the app. Withdrawal revokes the child's device keys, disables their access, stops any location handling, and opens a path to delete that child's data. You can also ask us to delete a child's information directly — see section 10.
What a child can and cannot see
A child sees their own items and shared family items. Children cannot see billing, payment details, household financial information, other members' private calendars, or the AI assistant.
5. Location
Location is off by default for every person in a household, including adults, and stays off until a parent deliberately enables it for a specific profile. When it is on:
- Readings are taken only while the app is open in the foreground. We do not track location in the background.
- Readings are automatically deleted after seven days.
- A parent can switch it off at any time, per person or for the whole household.
Where a caregiver shares their location while driving, that is the caregiver's own consented share as an adult, limited to the assigned window.
6. The AI assistant
The app includes an assistant that can read your family's schedule and answer questions about it. It is available to adults only.
- The assistant is scoped to a single family. It cannot read another household's data.
- We use third-party AI providers to process assistant requests. Content sent to those providers is limited to what is needed to answer the request.
- We do not permit your family's data or your Google user data to be used to train generalised AI models.
7. How we use information
- To run the conflict engine and produce driving, pickup, and carpool plans.
- To display your calendar, trips, meals, chores, budget, documents, and goals.
- To send the notifications you have turned on, such as the daily brief and conflict alerts.
- To operate accounts, take payment, and provide support.
- To keep the service secure — detecting abuse, rate-limiting, and investigating faults.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not show advertising in Home Advantage HQ, and we do not build advertising profiles.
8. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell information about a child.
We share information only in these situations:
- Within your household — according to the roles and permissions a parent sets. A caregiver, for example, sees only what the parent has granted.
- Service providers who operate the product on our behalf: cloud hosting and database, application hosting, notification delivery, payment processing, and AI processing. They are bound to use the data only to provide their service to us.
- Legal reasons — where we are required by law, or where disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety.
- A business transfer — if the service is ever acquired, information may transfer as part of that transaction. You would be notified, and any children's information would remain subject to the consent under which it was collected.
9. How long we keep it
- Location readings: deleted after seven days, automatically.
- Calendar events from a disconnected source: removed when you disconnect that source.
- Account and household data: kept while your account is active.
- After you close your account: deleted within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
- A child's data after consent is withdrawn: deleted on request, and in any case not used for anything further.
10. Your rights and how to use them
You can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you or your child.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account, or delete a specific child's information.
- Stop processing a child's information, by withdrawing consent.
Most of this can be done inside the app. For anything else, write to privacy@homeadvantagehq.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm you are the parent or account holder before we act on a request about a child.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
11. Security
Each household is an isolated tenant. Data is scoped to a family at the database level, so one family's account cannot read or write another family's information. Access tokens, calendar feed tokens, and child device keys are stored hashed or encrypted rather than in plain text, and device keys are single-use and revocable.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and any regulator that the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any change here and update the version and date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle a child's information, we will ask the consenting parent to review and consent again before it takes effect for that child.
